Former THE GATHERING Singer Nominated For EDISON Award
January 8, 2013Former THE GATHERING singer Anneke Van Giersbergen has been nominated for an Edison award, Holland's most prestigious music prize. Anneke was nominated in the "Best Female Artist" category for her latest solo album, "Everything Is Changing", which came out last year. Also up for the same award are Sabrina Starke and Trijntje Oosterhuis.
The Edison music award is an annual Dutch music prize, awarded for outstanding achievements in the music industry. It is one of the oldest music awards in the world, having been presented since 1960.
An independent voting academy decides on the nominees and winners.
The Edison Pop 2013 event will be held on February 11 in Amsterdam.
Commented Anneke: "I'm proud and happy to be nominated.
"'Everything Is Changing' was released one year ago and many wonderful things have happened since then. The tour is still going strong and with the new record starting next week, I couldn't be happier.
"I congratulate my two fellow nominees; I'm in excellent company!"
As previously reported, Anneke Van Giersbergen will play two exclusive U.S. shows in Chicago at the end of March. Also appearing on the bill both nights are Anneke's "dear friends" NOVEMBERS DOOM.
Anneke van Giersbergen announced her departure from THE GATHERING in 2007. She has since released four albums on her own and with her AGUA DE ANNIQUE solo project: "Air" (2007),"Pure Air" (2009),"In Your Room" (2009) and "Everything Is Changing" (2012).
"Everything Is Changing" was released on January 20, 2012 via PIAS Holland. The CD was recorded at Ultrasound Studios in Braga, Portugal with producer Daniel Cardoso.
